Homemade Playdough

This simple and quick Playdough recipe lasts for months when it’s kept in an airtight container.

This Playdough has a better, softer consistency than shop bought!

Try making it at home because, as well as being cheaper than the bought Playdough, your kids will also love to help you make it.  With its soft feel and easy shaping, it should provide hours of fun!

Homemade Playdough Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups of Water
  • 1 Cup of Salt
  • 2 Cups of Plain Flour
  • 4 Tablespoons of Cream of Tartar
  • 2 Tablespoons of Baby Oil
  • Food Colouring – the amount and colour to your own taste

Add all the above to a large saucepan, stirring continuously for about 5 minutes on a low heat.  At this stage, it should be a large lump of coloured dough!  Leave to cool and knead out any lumps.

You can add other things at this stage like vanilla essence for a great long lasting aroma. Adding glitter will add a great effect and not spoil the consistency of your Playdough.

Store in an airtight container and the Playdough will last for months.
